Welcome to our webpage.

In support of the statewide goals and benefits of the NYSPEF Retiree organization, our chapter holds seven monthly meetings and two social events annually.

Our regular meetings are held on the first monday of the month. No meetings are held in January, July or August.

Meetings will start with a noon check in and - unless noted otherwise - are to be held at the Colonie Elks Club, 11 Elks Lane (off Rte 155), Latham, NY 12110. A lite lunch will be served. Reservations should be made by close of business on the Tuesday preceding the meeting date. It is not possible to make exceptions for food allergies, medical conditions, or vegetarian choice etc. We try to make this as easy as possible for staff both at PEF HQ, the club and keep costs to a minimum. We ask you understand and if you have an issue consider lunch at home before or after attending the meeting.

If weather conditions become a concern, we will make the decision to cancel the meeting by 10:30AM the day of the meeting. If either North Colonie or South Colonie schools are closed we will automatically cancel the meeting. If you are still unsure and want to verify:

Please contact PEF HQ’s after 10:30 AM at 785-1900. Either ask the operator if the meeting has been cancelled or contact the retiree office at ext 289 either Paula or Jennifer and they too will have the information.

We have two social events annually: a picnic in June & Holiday lunch in Dec.

The chapter members continue to be active and we have:

• Three representatives on the PEF Region 8 PAC
• Several representatives to the NYS Alliance for Retired Americans and the CDARA
• Continued to petition the state legislature for passage of legislation including a Health Insurance bill to make our Health benefits permanent and are working towards an increase to the COLA.
• Work phone banks and leafleting for endorsed candidates
• Marched in Rallies with active members to show support
